While the hurt of missing out on a Grand Final still will take some time to get over, I couldn’t be more proud of what we achieved as a football club this season.

I’ve got no doubt the pain of losing that Preliminary Final will continue to burn over the summer. And so it should. But as players, coaches, members and fans, that hurt will fuel the club’s 2020 aspirations.

I know there has been significant speculation as to my playing future beyond 2019.

I’d just like to thank everyone for all the love, support and messages I’ve received in the past week.

Since the end of the season, I’ve given great thought and consideration towards my future, talking it over with my family, friends and advisors.

I’ve always taken pride in my performances and play since reaching the elite level.

The expectations that others place on me, have never been higher than the expectations and standards that I set for myself.

I believe I can still meet, and to an extent exceed my own expectations, and it is for that reason why I have agreed to terms with Geelong and penned a new deal to extend my career for a 19th season.

I have no doubt in my mind that as a team we’re capable of winning the Premiership next year which is why I’ve decided to go around again.

I’ll be putting in a lot of hard work during the offseason to give myself the best opportunity to play my role well and perform at the level that I know that I can.

But this is it. Next season, Year #19, will be my last in the game.

Thank you to the Geelong Football Club for giving me this opportunity to play on and for your patience.

This game has given me so much, and I’ve never taken the opportunity or the platform for granted.

While I’m looking forward to approaching my final year in the game with high on-field ambitions as always, I’m equally looking forward to sharing my last year in the AFL with all of you.

I’ve always spoken proudly, that we have the best fans in the world, and it is always a privilege to walk onto the playing field to perform in front of you all.

Thank-you for the love, support and respect… bring on 2020! 💪🏼
